The North Platte newspaper says January tests confirmed six different types of mold were growing inside the roof. The building can't be occupied until it's insured and can't be insured until the mold has been eliminated.

The leaky roof had to be replaced.

Jail inspector Kirk Nichols told the county commissioners on Monday that air quality will be monitored during the work and tested after it's finished.

In January, a superintendent for the jail's general contractor told commissioners that his company would fulfill its contractual obligations.
