The latest report on Jesse Fierstine of Manchester, Iowa says he is, in fact, fit to stand trial.
Fierstine is facing a charge of attempted murder in the case.
This is the fourth time the suspect has been evaluated. The previous three disagreed.
Prosecutors say Fierstine attacked his father, Charles Fierstine, in April 2009. Investigators say Jesse Fierstine used a pocketknife to cut into his 63-year-old father and remove his pacemaker.
Charles Fierstine recovered from the attack but died last year after a lengthy illness.
A trial could be set as early as next month.
