New Principal Selected From 70 Applicants

New secondary school principal. Brett Schwartz was hired earlier this week on a 6-0 vote by the Louisville Board of Education. He begins his duties July 1st after the current principal, Cynthia Osterloh, retires.

There were over 70 applicants, Superintendent Greg Shepard told the Cassgram. The list was narrowed to eight at one point and then the board interviewed the final three during a special meeting in February.

Four committees were involved the final stages of the search: students, teachers, board members, and administrators and staff members.

Schwartz is familiar with Louisville High School. He was the Lions head boys basketball coach a few years ago while he was teaching at Burke High School. He left when he accepted a teaching/coaching offer at Blair. Shepard said Schwartz was being groomed for an administrative position at Blair and told Louisville committee members the only place he would leave Blair for would be Louisville.
