The new president of the Nebraska-Iowa State NAACP Conference says he accepts the national board's support for same-sex marriage.

Arnold Woods of Urbandale, Iowa says he's taken over for The Rev. Keith Ratliff of Des Moines. Ratliff had been vice president of the Iowa-Nebraska unit of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Ratliff resigned earlier this month, saying he disagreed with the national leadership's endorsement of gay marriage.

The 64-year-old Woods is director of financial aid at Grinnell College.

Woods says he supported the national NAACP board, saying, "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and then we follow the dictates of the national board."
