While many know December 31st to be New Year's Eve, to Creighton fans it's game day.
Even if that day is also your wedding. For Alena and Michael Carlson, they both knew the second the game was announced where they would be after.
"She was like did you know Creighton plays at 9 o'clock after the wedding. I am like, yes. And she started saying we might be able to go to that," said Michael.
From Creighton class of 2007, these newly weds bleed blue and white.
"It's apart of our life, it's what brought us together," said the Carlsons.
And these two alums are going to the game as is, wedding dress and all.
With Bluejay fans hoping to bring in the New Year with a 'W' against new Big East rival Marquette. Just downstairs, another new family is excited about the game, but they can't seem to agree on who is going to win.
"Creighton," said Steve Ereckson. "I am picking Marquette," said his wife Maureen Ereckson.
A new rivalry born into a family.
"I'm from Omaha and went to Marquette," said Maureen. "And I went to Creighton. We met at work, and got married and now we are divided," said Steve.
To appease both parents, 8 month old Greta wears both school colors, a Creighton tee-shirt with a Marquette sweater.
Overall it's not the usual night for a game, but fans don't seem to mind. Some just blend the new years gear over the Creighton gear.
