Raising Cane's opened its third location in Nebraska Thursday morning, just east of the 72nd and Dodge intersection.
Raising Cane's serves a limited menu, but fans say they do one thing and they do it right. Chicken fingers drew large crowds through most of the day. Customers waited in line through much of their lunch hour just to order the chicken fingers. They don't call them "Caniacs" for nothing.
"We had hoped that we would have a great turnout, but it has definitely exceeded our expectations,” said Tommy Van Wolfe. “We had folks in line a couple of hours before we opened, standing outside in the cold, wrapped all down the sidewalk and we definitely appreciate their dedication."
The drive-thru wasn't any faster with vehicles forming an inner and outer ring around the restaurant. The first 100 customers received a free T-shirt and a coupon for a free box combo for use on a future visit.
A second Raising Cane’s will open at Westroads Mall in March.
