Warmer weather means many will soon hit the water. That includes the Sarpy County Sheriff's Department.
They'll use a new boat to patrol area lakes and the Missouri River.
The Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District paid half the $40,000 cost after finding out that the old boat made drowning recovery efforts challenging.
Captain Rolly Yost, with Sarpy County Search and Rescue said, "At that time we realized the inadequacies we had with the current equipment. We were using a boat that was 29 years old, a smaller boat, trip hazard, difficult to maneuver inside the boat as well as assist the divers."
The new boat will decrease search time thanks to new sonar technology.
