Four school boards re-organize. But there is no board president chosen yet after about two hours of voting in one district.
January is when board of education officers are elected for the year. Those positions were filled in four of Cass County’s five districts:
Plattsmouth- Bob Priebe is president, Ken Winters is vice president, Mary Caverzagie is secretary and Matt Glup is treasurer.
Conestoga- Gary Todd is president, Jeff Stanley is vice president, Linda Rice is secretary and Dean Nickels is treasurer.
Elmwood-Murdock- Dave Oehlerking is president, Mark Luetchens is vice president, Diann Stille is secretary and Kathy Frahm is treasurer.
Weeping Water- Alan Horn is president. Jay Twomey is vice president. Robyn Larson is treasurer.
Louisville is the district that does not have a president yet. Rhonda Sparks and Dean Mason were nominated. 141 votes were taken and each vote ended in a 3 to 3 tie. That means there were 423 votes for Sparks and 423 votes for Mason.
With no end in sight to the deadlock, a motion passed to continue the balloting at the February meeting and the 2012 vice president, Sparks, will serve as interim president until then. The 2013 vice president will also be chosen in February.
The Louisville board did elect Bob Derby as secretary and Lois Sjogren as treasurer.
