A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for eastern Johnson, northwestern Nemaha and southern Otoe counties in Nebraska until 3:15 p.m. Sunday. A tornado watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday for southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa, including Omaha, Council Bluffs and Lincoln.
A part of South Omaha history, the former library at 23rd and M Streets, will soon be the new home for the Learning Community Center of South Omaha.
The Learning Community's family literacy program aims to increase
student achievement by helping parents help their children.
The 14 to 1 Coordinating Council vote, approving the long term lease, allows the
program to expand and move towards a proven family literacy model that local
schools can use to help students succeed in elementary school.
The Learning Community expects to enroll some 200 families by the end of the year.
