Six suspects will stand trial in the murder of a 16-year-old Omaha male, who police call an innocent victim.
Angelo Tolbert, Joshua Van Ackeren, Matthew Saunsoci, Adam Gamble, and Francis Cayou were all bound over to District Court. They will stand trial for their roles in the murder of 16-year-old Montrell Wiseman.
A sixth person, Nicole Gamble, was bound over to District Court because prosecutors said she hid Tolbert from police.
Wiseman and 16-year-old Desjuha Wilkinson were shot on October 21st at 21st and Binney. Wiseman died at the scene. Wilkinson suffered a broken pelvis.
According to prosecutors, the group of five wanted revenge for the death of Tony Saunsoci, Matthew's cousin.
Prosecutors said in court Monday that Matthew and the others went driving into known gang territory looking for rival gang members.
Police reports indicate that Van Ackeren was driving, but that it was Tolbert who opened fire with a 20-gauge shotgun on Wiseman and three others sitting on a porch. Police said Wiseman was not in a gang or affiliated with one in any way.
In court, police testimony revealed a shotgun was found less than 200 yards from the scene with three live rounds inside it.
Investigators also found two spent casings near the shooting that matched.
