There's a change for the better coming to the Park Avenue neighborhood in the form of a new community center. Operated by inCommon Community Development, the center will provide access to social services for people in the area but it will be more than just a clearing house. The center is intended as a place where people can identify needs in their community and chart out a plan to address those needs.
The center is described as a unique approach to change the cycle of poverty. It also used a unique approach to raise funds to finish the project.
Supporters went to Facebook to find contributors to help fund the half million dollar project. The community center is located at the corner of Park Avenue and Woolworth and the opening is planned for October 19.
