The Arbor Day Foundation board of trustees has announced that Matt Harris will become the new chief executive of the Foundation effective July 1, 2014, the second in the organization’s history.
Harris has been with the Foundation for 11 years, serving as president the last six.
The board voted unanimously to promote Harris to chief executive.
John Rosenow, founder of the Arbor Day Foundation, announced earlier this year his transition to retirement effective July 1, 2014.
The Arbor Day Foundation is in its fifth decade of creating and building large-scale, sustained programs to further its mission of inspiring people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees.
Arbor Day Foundation members and supporters have helped the Foundation plant some 250 million trees on five continents, including on 95 United States national and state forests that have been damaged by disease and fire.
