It was like a domino effect to the west of Oakview Mall. One business after another across the street shut their doors for good and the area has sat mostly empty for quite some time. Recently, a local business has been breathing new life into the area and is about ready to open a new family entertainment spot.
The V, a 46,000 square foot entertainment business, will open June 24th in the old Linens and Things space.
The V will have bowling, laser tag, climbing walls, restaurant, lounge and conference rooms.
"Kids can feel comfortable. Families can feel comfortable. Young, old, you know our age demographic is 3 to 100, or 105. It's pretty much all age groups in a nice upscale environment," said Joe Rosner, General Manager.
Bowling lanes at The V are arranged in the pattern of a “V”, a unique design. They are complete with large video projection screens at the end of the lanes, including two of the largest indoor video screens in the State of Nebraska.
The V is owned and operated by ESM Entertainment LLC. Headquartered in Omaha, Mike Zabawa, principal of ESM, spent 21 years at Peter Kiewit Sons’, Inc., a Fortune 500 engineering and construction company, in a corporate development role, prior to pursuing the development of The V.
“Consistent with my vision for better community, The V will enhance and improve the entertainment choices available to Omaha and its surrounding communities,” Zabawa said. “This is really about creating an environment for socializing in an attractive, memorable and fun setting.”
The V will employ more than 100 people.
