A deputy struck and killed a Nemaha, Nebraska man with his patrol car while responding to a report of a vehicle going south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Guthrie, Oklahoma Saturday morning.
Forty-six-year-old Danny Lundy was killed about 12:30 a.m. after being hit by the car driven by Logan County Deputy Mark Hanneman.
Logan County Chief Deputy Richard Stephens said items had fallen from the back of Lundy's pickup and the truck was in the interstate median as Lundy used its headlights to search for the items. Stephens said the deputy didn't see Lundy because of the headlights shining in his eyes.
Hanneman suffered a broken collarbone and broken ribs in the crash.
