Neighbors In North Omaha Pray For Peace

Neighbors came together in North Omaha Monday night in the wake of a deadly crime.

Dawn Truman was killed at 36th and Patrick on Saturday. She was found shot to death inside a home there. Latoya Ross has been arrested for the crime.

Monday night around a dozen people in the community participated in a prayer vigil at the scene of the crime. They prayed for the family involved and the community.

Organizers say this particular crime is concerning. Dave Gehrls said, “What's bothering me is that this is the second woman that has been killed within a six block radius of here. This one was killed by a woman. We have gang violence but women are killed by women, that's something I'm concerned about.”

Organizers say it’s very rare they see a crime with a woman suspect and victim. There’s no word on a motive at this point.
