Families in need will get some much needed help as two local pantries received a major donation on Friday.
A truck being unloaded at 84th and Giles in Papillion was filled with about 71,000 pounds of Smart Chicken donated by No Frills, Bag ‘N Save and MBA Poultry that will help feed needy families.
“Think it’s important to serve our community and hopefully actions today allow us to do just that,” said Bil Loneman with No Frills and Bag ‘N Save.
“It’s a smart, giving campaign,” said MBA Poultry’s Tom Ryks. “What it is, is every November for every 10 pounds of Smart Chicken they sell we donate a pound to the food bank and food pantry of their choice."
Volunteers, including two moms who count on Together, Inc. and Heartland Hope Mission to help feed their families, helped unload the huge donation.
