Dr. Seuss' birthday celebration continued over the lunch hour Tuesday as Nebraska's First Lady, Sally Ganem, read to some kindergartners at Beals Elementary.
She read two books: C is for Cornhusker and Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog.
She told the youngsters these are a couple of her favorites that that weren't written by Dr. Seuss.
“Is that a hot dog?” she read aloud. “Not a hot dog. My hot dog. Ahhhh. I have a question. What they do they taste like?”
“Macaroni,” one youngster chimed in.
The First Lady stuck to the text in the book and concluded, “They are a taste sensation."
She stressed the importance of reading to the kindergartners saying, if you don't learn, how will you read the texts from your friends when you get older?
