Landowners are being reminded that the deadline approaches for signing up for the federal Conservation Stewardship Program.
The voluntary program offers payments for maintaining a high level of conservation on land for agreeing to adopt extra conservation measures for operations.
Only applications received by the Jan. 13 deadline will be considered for the current ranking and funding period.
In the past two years, more than 1,600 program contracts have been made in 91 Nebraska counties.
Application can be made at Natural Resources Conservation Service field offices and online at www.nrcs.usda.gov.
