What do you do with 10,036 Lincoln Logs? The Lincoln Children's Museum built a model of the Nebraska State Capitol on Saturday.
The 12-foot-4-inch replica was the tallest structure ever built with Lincoln Logs and it used a record number of pieces. A team of architects from DLR Group and students from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln completed the tower. A lot of people came out to watch.
"It's exactly what we wanted to have happen,” said Wendy Birdsall of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. “We're trying to build pride in our community and the best thing to have happen is to have people come down and watch it be constructed.”
The previous record, set in 2010 by the Community House of Arts in Ottawa, Illinois, was 10-feet-11 inches using 2,995 Lincoln Logs.
