The 45 are assigned to the 45th Military Police Detachment, Law and Order.

Spokesman Kenneth Kildare told the Columbus newspaper that the
Columbus-based detachment is leaving Feb. 19.

He says the soldiers will be back about a year from now, starting their active duty first with about 45 days of training at Fort Bliss, Texas.

Kildare says the unit draws members from five Midwest states.

A public farewell ceremony is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Feb. 16 at Columbus High School.
