Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested 22 people for drunk driving during a special enforcement over the St. Patrick’s weekend. The enforcement ran Friday, Saturday & Sunday.
While the special enforcement focused on drunk driving, troopers were also looking for other traffic violations. They found plenty.
The patrol reports issuing 143 speeding citations and warnings, 13 citations for driving with a suspended license, and six citations for having no proof of insurance.
Nine juveniles were also cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol. Six citations were issued for open container. Troopers also reported issuing 31 citations and warnings for no seat belt use and six citations and warnings were handed out for child restraint violations.
A $5,575 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety helped pay for the three-day special enforcement.
