Twenty-eight-year-old Sgt. Omar Jones of Maywood, Nebraska died Monday at a base at Balkh Province. His death is under investigation by the Department of the Army. No details about his death were released.
Jones was an electrician assigned to the 623rd Engineer Company in Wahoo. Jones enlisted in the Army in 2001. After his active tour duty, he joined the Nebraska National Guard in 2005.
Jones is survived by his wife and two children. Funeral services are pending.
