State health and dental officials have a message for Nebraskans: Watch Your Mouth.
That's the name of a new oral health campaign to encourage people to see the connection between dental health and overall health.
Joann Schaefer is Nebraska's Chief Medical Officer for the Department of Health and Human Services.
She says that good oral health can make a real difference in a person's quality of life.
Schaefer hopes the new `Watch Your Mouth' program will help parents make dental health a bigger priority for their children.
She says all Nebraskans can improve their health by taking care of their teeth and gums.
HHS officials say people with good oral health are at a lower risk of heart disease, complications from diabetes, and oral cancer.
