Nebraska is among 87 universities taking part in a recycling challenge during its October football games.
The Game Day Challenge is aimed at decreasing waste at college football games. Participating schools must design a waste-reduction
plan for one football game. Schools can win in several categories,
such as least amount of waste generated per attendee and highest
recycling rate.
Nebraska has designated Saturday's game against Missouri as its date for the program. Fans are encouraged to use recycling containers to dispose of waste.
The Game Day Challenge is sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
