The Nebraska Legislature may soon become a little more environmentally friendly.

A bill (LB 782) requiring that reports be submitted to the
Legislature electronically will be up for discussion Friday in the
Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee.

The goal of the measure is to save money and time by reducing
printing costs and man hours spent compiling paper reports.

The bill is sponsored by Sen. Beau McCoy of Omaha.

A fiscal impact study of the bill found that it would apply to
more than 250 instances where reports are required.

The impact statement notes that while there would be some savings in printing and storage costs, the amount of savings is unknown.
