The Nebraska Army National Guard has won a national meal-making award.
Gov. Dave Heineman congratulated the Guard's food specialists
Monday during a visit to the Nebraska National Guard Spirit of 76
Armory in Lincoln. The competition called for soldiers to prepare a
meal while operating as if they were deployed to places such as
Iraq and Afghanistan.
The specialists from the 267th Maintenance Company won the 44th
Annual Philip A. Connelly Award. The soldiers prepared a
multi-course dinner that included Salisbury steak, garlic roasted
potato wedges, glazed carrots, french onion soup and chocolate
The soldiers will receive their awards at a formal ceremony in
San Diego in late March.
