The Nebraska Labor Department said in a report released Friday that the state unemployment rate was 3.6 percent in May, a tenth of a point below the April rate of 3.7 percent.
The rate was four-tenths of a point below the four percent rate in May 2013.
The new figure remained well below the national unemployment rate of 6.3 percent in May, which matched the April figure.
Iowa's Workforce Development agency says the state unemployment rate increased slightly in May to 4.4 percent, up from the April rate of 4.3 percent.
The number of unemployed Iowa residents rose to 74,100 in May compared to 73,500 in April. The number of Iowa residents with jobs also increased, to 1,624,300.
Iowa's rate was down from the 4.8 percent in May 2013.
