"Nebraska" Draws Six Oscar Nominations

Some of the local members of the cast and crew gathered in Norfolk, Nebraska to catch the Academy Awards announcement.

The director of Allied Integrated Marketing shared some snapshots of a group watching the announcement at the Norfolk Lodge and Suited. 

Cindi Rogers said that four members of the cast attended.  Rachel Liester, Roger Stuckwisch, Noah Matteo and Melinda Simonsen all showed up for the event.  The groups roles ranged from a waitress to one of the karaoke singers in the movie.

A few locals went home with posters signed by the stars from the cast.

The movie "Nebraska" struck out during the Golden Globes, but it will get a shot at redemption at the 86th Annual Academy Awards.

"Nebraska" racked up six Oscar nominations Thursday, including best picture. Nebraskans will have to wait until March 2nd to find out if the movie, directed by Omaha native Alexander Payne, brings home any awards.

- Best Actor: Bruce Dern
- Best Supporting Actress: June Squibb
- Best Original Screenplay
- Best Cinematography

The con-artist comedy "American Hustle" and the 3-D space odyssey "Gravity" led the Academy Awards with 10 nominations each, including nods for best picture. The other nominees are "12 Years A Slave," ''Captain Phillips," ''Dallas Buyers Club," ''Her," '''The Wolf of Wall Street," "Philomena" and "Nebraska."

"12 Years A Slave" narrowly trailed "Gravity" and "American Hustle" with a total of nine nominations.
