Nebraska Offering Money For Job Training Efforts

Money is now available for educational programs that prepare adults for high-demand careers.

The Nebraska Department of Education is accepting applications from nonprofits, adult education providers and community colleges.

The state initiative approved in April is part of an effort to establish educational "bridge programs" that help adults advance from low-skill work to a better-paying career. Bridge programs offer fast-track courses and support services, such as transportation, to help adults earn a certificate or diploma.

Applications are available through the Nebraska Department of Education's adult education division. The group Nebraska Appleseed for Law in the Public Interest is also providing guidance for organizations that apply.
