A 23-year-old southeast Nebraska woman has been given two to four years in prison for leaving her infant son in the care of a parolee who'd served time for child abuse.
Online court records say Kayla Jurgensen, of Crete, had pleaded no contest to negligent child abuse and being an accessory to a felony: the beating of her young son.
Her ex-boyfriend, 26-year-old Matthew Wylie, last month was given 30 to 40 years in prison for assault. He'd pleaded no contest after prosecutors dropped a child abuse charge.
Wylie was arrested in December after Jurgensen took the boy to a hospital for treatment of a skull fracture. Jurgensen told officers that Wylie told her the boy fell off a bathroom counter.
