Friday’s Nebraska-Colorado game is the final regular-season Big 12 game either school will play. Fans across the metro are watching the historic moment.
The two teams have played each other 68 times since 1948. Many fans will miss the post-Thanksgiving Day contest between Nebraska and Colorado as the Huskers go to the Big Ten next year while Colorado moves to the Pac-10.
Husker football is a tradition at Mama’s on Saddlecreek, but one thing that will have to change are the banners that will soon need to be replaced with teams from the Big Ten.
"I think down the road they'll find a way to replace the game, it’s too good for college football, it’s too good for Nebraska,” said Jim Druliner. “There’s gonna be someone else as the Big Ten rivalries develop, something will pop up where this game will materialize again."
The Huskers open their first Big Ten season in 2011 at Wisconsin and end it at home against Iowa.
