A Nebraska City man is dead following a collision with a semitrailer.
Sixty-four-year-old Richard Fairbanks died Monday afternoon following the crash just south of Nebraska City.
The Otoe County Sheriff's Department says Fairbanks was driving his car south and trying to cross Nebraska Highway 2 when the car was hit by a semi going west. Investigators say a witness reported that Fairbanks ran a red light.
Fairbanks was taken to nearby St. Mary's Hospital, where he died. The 61-year-old driver of the semi was not injured.
Investigators say both drivers were wearing seat belts.
