Bankers to select new leader.
George Beattie, president and CEO of the Nebraska Bankers Association (NBA), has announced his intention to retire Jan. 2, 2015. Beattie's retirement will bring to a close a distinguished NBA career of 22 years.
As Beattie transitions into retirement, he leaves a legacy of financial strength, an outstanding professional team, and a state association known nationally for excellence.
The NBA Board of Directors has authorized a formal search committee, which is in the process of selecting Beattie's successor.
"George is well known for his leadership and is held in high regard within the banking industry, both statewide and nationally," stated NBA Chairman John Stinner of Valley Bank & Trust Co. in Gering. "He has guided the association through good times and bad and has found ways to move the NBA forward through them all."
"Although we must focus on the future of our association, we also need to take this time to recognize George for his legacy of leadership at the NBA," said NBA Chairman-Elect Craig Brewster of Butte State Bank in Butte, Neb. "He will be missed."
"It's been an unforgettable ride," Beattie stated. "I am truly fortunate to have worked with some of the most honorable and talented men and women in the nation. Bankers are the cornerstones of our communities, and it has been my privilege to work alongside them to affect positive change for the industry and our state."
