Native Americans Get Health Care Boost

Local Native Americans are receiving the gift of sight this week in Omaha.

Those at the Fred Leroy Health and Wellness Center, a health clinic supported by the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska, were given free eye exams Wednesday.

It's thanks to the Prevention of Global Blindness division of UNMC's Eye Institute.

Patients we talked to said getting this kind of service makes a big difference.

Organizers say they find complications in one of three patients, meaning they'll need further attention.
