Shots Fired At Trooper During Chase, Suspects Caught

Two suspects from South Dakota are in custody following a chase in which shots were fired at a Nebraska state trooper Friday night.

The Nebraska State Patrol says the trooper clocked a car traveling at a high rate of speed on Interstate 80 near the Odessa exit about 10:30 p.m.

The driver wouldn't stop and a chase ensued. The car exited the interstate south of Kearney and headed south on Highway 44 when several shots were fired at the trooper's patrol car. The cruiser was hit at least once. The chase ended near Minden when the car went into a ditch and its two occupants fled on foot.

Twenty-two-year-old Aleksandr Voznyuk of Sioux Falls was arrested after a helicopter using infrared technology located him in a nearby field. He was treated for a canine bite before being taken to the Buffalo County Jail.

Eighteen-year-old Petr Strizheus of Harrisburg initially got away, but was arrested around noon Saturday at the Minden Public Library after the librarian reported a suspicious person to law enforcement.
