The stolen Jeep came to rest against two garage doors damaging both.
This last crash ended a short high speed chase that began when a state trooper noticed the Jeep speeding on the interstate. Trooper Jones gave chase and watched as the Jeep smashed into a car stopped at 138th and Harrison.
Trooper Trinity Jones says, "At that time he just lost control and hit the curb. Blew the right front tire I saw the right front tire blow and the vehicle then veered back into traffic."
Although it was heavily damaged the Jeep was still running and the driver continued to try and get away.
The Jeep jumped the curb and came up into the parking lot of the apartment complex but the Jeep was leaking fluids the entire way so the driver did not get far.
Terrance Tilson and his friend heard the crash and commotion but were not quite sure what was happening but they did watch as the driver of the Jeep get out.
Terrance Tilson says, "He didn't even let the car stop he got out while it was still moving."
Troopers say the driver and a passenger both managed to run north through the complex and elude the search.
Terrance Tilson says, "Me and my friend Ronald we went and wanted to help out so we went looking for him, not like looking for him but looking for evidence and stuff. In the backyard there was a knife and id and stuff."
Everything was handed over to investigators, and troopers interviewed several witnesses to the chase and crash.
In addition to the wallet and identification troopers say they also recovered several items from the Jeep itself that may help identify either the driver of the stolen Jeep or his passenger.
