The Nebraska Public Power District is assessing damage to four transmission lines which happened during Sunday’s storm. The public is asked to stay away from any downed power line and treat any such line as if it was still live. Drivers who not attempt to cross any downed line.
NPPD says its assessment includes damage in Sutton. Crews are working to restore power to the community. Preliminary reports indicate damage to about 100 structures between a substation near Hallam and the McCool substation. Crews have secured the line which fell on the ground across Highway 81.
About 35 structures were damaged from McCool to Geneva and three from Davey to Wahoo.
On Sunday morning, NPPD crews were already at work after 976 customers were left without power in Milford as a result of the storm that hit about 7:30 a.m. Those customers had their power restored by 9 a.m. Sunday.
