The Nebraska Humane Society is having success with their latest effort to find cats homes. In the first day of their free cat adoption event, 44 cats were adopted.

The shelter says it's running out of room for new cats right now. Starting Wednesday, cats over the age of 6 months are free for adoptions. As for kittens under 6 months old, two can be adopted for the price of one.

The event runs through Sunday, July 13th.

Adoptions hours are from noon to 7 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
