A man wanted for murder shot and killed himself along Interstate 29 in Fremont County, Iowa Friday evening.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation said tips from passing drivers came in that a pickup matching the description of the one belonging to 40-year-old Robert Taylor of Mount Ayr was stopped along northbound I-29 north of Hamburg around 5 p.m.
DCI Assistant Director Charis Paulson said a positive identification is pending, but authorities believe it is Taylor. "It looked like that the person was sitting in his truck and when the deputy pulled up on him, that's when the self-inflicted gunshot occurred,” said the DCI’s David Dales.
Taylor was sought in connection with Friday morning's shooting death of 45-year-old Lori Yeager in Mount Ayr. Her body was found by Ringgold County deputies responding to a call about 2 a.m. from a juvenile who reported a domestic altercation between Yeager and Taylor. Taylor was not at the house when deputies arrived.
