A mother's plea for justice came Wednesday almost a year since her son was gunned down in front of her. Last December, 30-year-old Lynell Green was killed inside a home at 34th and Larimore. His family believes they know who did it, but no arrest has been made.
"I seen my son take his last breath,” says Barbara Green-Doolittle. “I knew he did, but I didn't want to believe it." She recounts what happened the night her son was killed. “Two guys came in and I wasn't really paying attention because I was watching my grandchildren who were sitting on the floor. My son was lying there in front of me and he was gasping for air. He had his arms out like this."
Teddy Relford, Lynell's brother, says because of lack of help from police, he did his own investigation into who may have killed his brother. “Right by his bed, right by the door, is a dark blue hat, a gang member hat and I'm like, hold on, he don't wear this. He wears different hats like this." Relford believes he knows who killed his brother.
"I couldn't move back into my house because all I did was see my son lying in my living room,” says Green-Doolittle.
Police tell Channel 6 News they don't have any new leads and need the public’s help in the case. Anyone with information about Green’s murder is asked to call 402-444-5656.
