Hundreds of families went without power for several hours Thursday night. OPPD said muddy conditions made it difficult to fix the problem.
It began around 5 p.m. when a wire burned on a primary wire at 132nd & Maple which caused 3,000 customers to lose power. A majority of them had power with a half-hour.
But 340 customers from 192nd to 204th on both sides of Maple did not have electricity.
It was dark inside the Walgreens at 202nd St. Traffic became snarled as the signals did not work at 204th and Maple.
Channel Six crews also noticed a number of people who had just got home and were now sitting in their driveway wondering why the garage doors weren’t working.
By 10:17 p.m., OPPD reported power had been fully restored.
