Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a rollover crash that left the driver critically injured Wednesday evening.
Witnesses told police the driver of an SUV lost control on southbound Interstate 480 shortly after 7 p.m. when a tire blew. The vehicle veered off the highway south of the Dodge Street overpass.
The driver, 41-year-old Michael Tatum of Omaha, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, which rolled on top of him. His passenger, 30-year-old Maurice Holbert of Omaha, suffered minor injuries.
Passersby were able to roll the SUV off Tatum, who was taken to Alegent Creighton University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
