Two friends, on a motorcycle ride, were injured Sunday when one of the drivers lost control of his bike.
According to the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Department, the motorcycles were northbound on Interstate-29, at exit 71, when the strong winds caused 57-year-old Lawrence Clark of North Carolina to lose control of his motorcycle. Clark laid the motorcycle down; however, the second driver, 69-year-old Frank Hibbs of North Carolina, could not avoid Clark and ran over he and his motorcycle.
The impact caused Hibbs to roll his motorycle. Hibbs was taken to the hospital, by medical helicopter, with life-threatening injuries. Clark was also taken to the hospital.
Both drivers were wearing helmets.
