Motor Vehicle Homicide Suspect Turns Himself In

An Elkhorn man named in an arrest warrant earlier this month for motor vehicle homicide turned himself in at the Cass County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday. Twenty-three-year-old Chase Lautenbach posted 10 percent of his $10,000 bond.

He was wanted in connection with the September 4, 2013 crash in Weeping Water that took the life of 44-year-old Keith Turner of Murray, Nebraska.

Authorities say Turner's vehicle was rear-ended by Lautenbach and pushed into the path of an oncoming truck. Cass County Attorney Nathan Cox told WOWT 6 News that careless driving led to the charge, saying Lautenbach should have slowed down for the turning car.
