A mother says enough is enough.
Her 23-year-old son was gunned down Saturday morning.
She tells Channel 6 News the violence has to end.
It's a story you'll only see on Channel 6.
Terry Smith had to be there when the man suspected of shooting and killing her son made a court appearance at the Douglas County jail.
Channel Six News was the only camera there to get her reaction after the hearing.
“They need to cut out all these senseless murders because that was stupid,” Smith said. 'That was real dumb because my son wasn't doing nothing.”
Twenty-three year old Craig Brown was shot near 45th and Larimore around 2:40 Saturday morning.
He was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center where he later died.
“I love my son Craig Leon Brown dearly...it just was unnecessary,” Smith said. “They need to stop the violence...my son didn't do nothing.”
As yet another Omaha mother wonders why someone would take her most precious possession.
“They just killed my son for no reason,” she said.
Forty-five-year-old Dwayne Blackson was originally charged with shooting Brown, but late Monday afternoon, the Douglas County Attorney's office decided not to file homicide charges against Blackson.
Blackson will face charges of being a prohibited person in possession of a gun and possession of a stolen firearm.
