An Omaha mother has been arrested on charges of burning her 20-month-old son last November. The state of Nebraska pursued charges in July and police made their arrest Thursday.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Akumthong Achol is facing charges of negligent child abuse resulting in injury and intentional child abuse resulting in injury.
In November 2013, police discovered her son with burns on his feet and buttocks area. A doctor confirmed the injuries were not from any disease but from a “thermal injury.”
Achol is being held in the Douglas County Jail on a $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 22.
