Tony Amato's driveway has seen a lot of rain this summer.
“It's washed away the dirt so I'm just going back and filling it all to level it out,” Amato said.
Leveling out empty space left behind from rain water, he has a new problem.
“The heat doesn't get too bad if you're out for awhile. But it's been, it's pretty humid lately,” Amato.
Add all those together and it's the perfect recipe for mosquitoes.
“You really don't have wait here in this part of the country for mosquitoes, they come as soon as they can,” Jeanie George owner of Blue Jay Termite and Pest Control said. “People are getting more concern and with the threat of West Nile and other diseases spread by mosquitoes.”
She says she's seen a rise in services calls for a special mosquito lawn treatment.
“We usually run the perimeter of the home, yard area, landscaping area,” George said.
It's a relatively cheap treatment running about $40-$50 for every 2,500 square feet of lawn. The coverage lasts anywhere from 7-14 days.
“That would help out a lot,” Amato said.
He admits after he finishes this project.
“This dirt has brought in a lot more mosquitoes,” Amato said.
He'll look at treating his yard for a second time.
“It's like bug repellant doesn't do the best when there's thousands and thousands of them everywhere,” Amato said.
