Cass County man enters pleas to two additional felonies. 25-year-old Jared Rye entered the pleas to third-degree arson and attempted burglary as part of a plea agreement. Both are Class IV felonies. There is no agreement on a recommended sentence. Sentencing is September 26th.
Prosecutors say Rye and another man went to a house northwest of Plattsmouth last November. The owners were not at home. Three guns were stolen and a couch was set on fire. The pair later went back and set fire to a vehicle in the driveway of the residence.
The Cassgram reports Rye is currently serving a 1 to 3 year sentence in state prison after pleading no contest to felony flight to avoid arrest in western Nebraska. He was arrested and then convicted in Lincoln County after a 150 mile chase following a convenience store robbery in Alda, Nebraska last November. There is a Class II Felony case still active in Hall County for his alleged part in the Alda incident.
He was also sentenced earlier this summer in Cass County Court to 180 days and 365 days for a police pursuit last year.
