Three felony charges added to a list of charges currently filed against a 24-year-old man from Buccaneer Bay. The latest charges are in connection with two fires and a burglary at a residence west of Plattsmouth last November.
The Cassgram reports Jared W. Rye is accused of setting a fire in a house at 18103 48th Street (near Ranch Road), stealing six guns and a laptop from the residence, and then returning a couple days later and setting fire to a vehicle in the driveway.
Just after 4pm on November 10th, a caller told 911 dispatchers she returned home, discovered smoke coming from the house and determined the house had been burglarized. Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department responded along with the Plattsmouth Volunteer Fire Department. Fire units were canceled while en route because there was no longer a working fire. Fire damage was limited to the living room of the structure but there was intensive heat and smoke damage throughout.
