A Lincoln woman was sentenced Wednesday to four to five years in prison in connection with the death of a 12-year-old girl.
Twenty-four-year-old Ashley Jackson was sentenced for the March 2012 overdose death of Serena Garrett, who was brought to Jackson's home to babysit her infant twins.
Prosecutors say Jackson smoked methamphetamine and gave Garrett and others present alcohol and drugs. Police say Jackson left and Garrett was sexually assaulted by a 20-year-old man. She then died of a prescription drug overdose.
Jackson pleaded no contest to child abuse resulting in death in December. She was arrested last month on a warrant after she failed to show up for sentencing.
Jackson apologized to Garrett's family, but family members aren't happy with the sentence.
